Groomer Bldg Dedication
Groomer Storage Building Dedication/Vintage Ride/Bonfire
Saturday January 28th, 2012
250 members & area residents attended this “Red Letter Day” event
Over 5 years of planning and fundraising went into the great facility that the club dedicated today. We were honored to have Miss Emily Bauer from the La Crosse area attend. She is the 2012 AWSC (Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs) Miss Snowflake and her appearance added greatly to the festivities. Club members who belong to American Legion Sylvan Post 44 in Wabeno started things off with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a moment of silence for our fallen veterans. Several other speakers followed and a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony capped off the program. Just below is a copy of the complete program. Lunch was served with a choice of hot dogs roasted over a bonfire or Hot Tamales for those who did not want to venture out in the cold, windy weather. Thanks to Jeff and Rhonda Kroll, Dan & Laurie Pries, Clint & Vicki Aderholdt and John and Linda Brantmeier for planning such a fitting way to dedicate our new building. Finally, thanks to Mary Stehula, our club secretary, for making the arrangements to bring Miss Snowflake to our event and Jim Weyers, our club treasurer, who kept all the monies flowing as this project progressed.

- Club officers, board members and building committee members were joined by DNR Warden Joe Paul and County Rec officer Troy Sherman for the ribbon cutting. Honors went to club Secretary Mary Stehula’s grandaughter Alaina who is a third generation snowmobiler and future club member
- Some of the many club members who attended the event. It was very exciting to see so many of our “weekend” members take the time to be with us when the trails were is such good shape for riding
- AWSC Miss Snowflake addresses those attending. She gave a background of her role as the spokesperson of our state snowmobile association. She also spoke of her role in helping lead the KOAS group of young snowmobilers who are being nurtured as future leaders in our sport of snowmobiling.
- More of the many attendees who were listening to Miss Snowflake during the dedication.
- Club President John Brantmeier and Secretary Mary Stehula pose with Miss Snowflake Emily Bauer in front of the Ultimate Groomer owned by the club.
- The Mountain Ambulance Service brought their snowmobile rescue unit and equpment truck for display. This very truck was previously owned by the City of New York and was heavily damaged on 9-11. It was sold to a dealer who rebuilt it and sold it to the Mountain Ambulance Service. It still bears scars intentionally left on a side door from that fateful day.
- Vintage sleds were out in full force and many attended our event. This beautifully restored Polaris TX and matching sled caught the eye of many. Those are two adults in the sled!!
- This Arctic Cat Panther and matching Cat Cutter was also in perfect condition. It was good to see so many old machines and brought back many memories of “the good old days” including changing plugs several times a day, breaking cleats and of course many belt changes.
